- On Saturday, the hotel lost electricity. Aside from not being able to use straighteners, blow dryers, curling irons, and everything else necessary to get ready, we also had to use glow sticks to get through the hallways and staircases until emergency lighting could get turned on.
- Earrings, necklaces, and bracelets break. Shoes fall off, and people trip for a number reasons. I personally walked off the wrong side of the stage. Dresses are too loose or too tight, and stains occur as well. You have to move on.
- Let me tell you right now, the opening number dance isn't easy. You have to get on stage, stand in the right place, be on time with everyone else, never break your smile, and perform for the entire audience.
- Blisters happen, you just have to be armed with band-aids. Oh, and your feet will most likely be numb by the end of the night.
Being pretty is in the eyes of the beholder, and changes from every single girl. I put on make-up, and curl my hair. I wear impeccably high shoes, plan out my jewelry, and have garment bags full of pretty dresses. Being beautiful, however, comes from within. It is a light that shines as soon as you walk in to the room; people want to know who you are. No amount of make-up can fake being truly beautiful. It is an attitude and personality, and true queens have it. Pageants aren't about looking pretty, they're about making a difference in your community and being a role model. Pretty and beautiful are often used as synonyms; pageants have taught me that there is a much larger difference.
I want to thank everyone that voted for me as "Audience Favorite," it is truly an honor. Without the love and support of my family and friends, I would be no where today. Also, a huge thanks to everyone that bought an advertisement from me. As soon as I get it resized, I will be wearing the gorgeous ring that I won due to your support.
Always walk as though there is a crown on your head.
This quote reminds me to always stand up straight and elude confidence. Never talk bad about someone else, and always have a positive attitude and smile. You never know who may be looking up to you. A queen knows that she is a role model to everyone around her; I hope I can be the same to you.
My experience in pageantry has taught me so much, and I am truly thankful for everyone that has supported me. I have every intention to continue with my platform and influence young children. You never know, I may just amaze everyone next year.
